We will remember 2016 as a very important year in the anti-corruption sphere, mostly – because of the launch of the e-declaration system. The authorities tried to disrupt it more than five times. Attempts to destroy or undermine it continue. But we came through and continue to counteract corrupt officials. The international community has helped us a lot in that regard.
The declarations showed that the fight against corruption will only increase in the new year. A lot of criminal cases regarding illegal enrichment and conflicts of interest will have to be investigated! And a lot of corrupt officials will have to be punished!
So taking into account everything stated above, my wish for the 2017 is that the e-declarations will fulfil their purpose, and society will see corrupt officials fairly punished. However, my wish may not come true without a reformation of the court system.
So we will have to roll up our sleeves and work both harder and smarter to have the Anti-corruption Court established inUkraine.
With hope for positive changes in the new year,
