TI Ukraine’s legal advisor Kateryna Ryzhenko shared her opinion on the actions of military prosecutors and the court decision on the case concerning the assets of the former Minister of Revenues and Duties Klymenko.

She believes that the prosecutors’ decision not to transfer 1000 seized open freight cars under the management of Asset Recovery and Management Agency is a direct violation of the law.

“Last year’s motions by the prosecution and the ruling of Pechersk District Court are unclear from the legislative standpoint… With the current lease rates and the high demand for open freight cars, Ukraine could make over half a billion hryvnias, or about USD 20 mln in a year and a half,” says Ryzhenko.
