Ukraine will be going through a time of pre-election fever. It is quite normal for any democratic country. It is precisely the situation when what the country already has stabilizes, or when the symptoms of social diseases aggravate. Everything depends on how the patient (the society) reacts to these symptoms. Whether it will analyze the reasons, understand the consequences and get inoculated against epidemic diseases, such as populism (an international virus), pro-USSR / pro-Russian stance (a regional disease) and everything-is-terrible. Or whether it will succumb to these viruses.

Ukraine will be going through a time of pre-election fever. It is quite normal for any democratic country.

No doctors or advisers from outside will help us to go through either of these options. The most they can do is push us towards one of them. Everything else is our personal responsibility.

What do we do in this case? I can only share my own strategies.

Basic level strategy: do no harm. That is, minimize any actions that can aggravate the situation in the society. Less bickering over inconsequential things, less public criticism without constructive suggestions. We have enough people who want us to clash, and that is no great effort either: with our emotional nature, we are all too happy to engage in another fight.

Advanced level strategy: help. Support everything that is useful, from the smallest union to achieve a simple result to complex processes that require investments of time and effort but eventually produce great results. Of course, with regard to your own resources. Nobody can achieve great things if they are burned out halfway through.

The highest level: defend. If you clearly see the enemy, if you are absolutely sure this is really one, if you are sure of your ability to win (otherwise – call for help!), make effort to destroy the enemy.

Everyone chooses their own options based on what they can do. You can be personally effective on the first level, effective as part of the group on the second level, effective as part of the team on the third. But if we do not make the effort at every level, not just success (which, in pre-election time, is always defined by the quality of demand and supply, while we have trouble with the former and as the result with the latter), but even with more-less calm and peaceful campaigning.

These are the principles that I will always use to choose partners for my work and statements I will communicate in the near future. This is the basic motto that I choose as a Citizen.
