The Ukrainian chapter of the global anti-corruption network Transparency International cordially invites activists, journalists and everyone interested in the budgeting process and public procurement to the workshop in Dnipro “Control Budgets, Monitor Procurement.” At the event, representatives of the public will gain theoretical knowledge and practical tools which will help them to influence local self-government authorities. Practical application of the tools will be given special attention. We invite the participants from Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad regions.  

The workshop will take place in Dnipro on April 23-24 in Reikartz hotel Dnipro at 12A Troitska street. Check-in from 9:30 AM to 10 AM.

Registration deadline is April 19. 20 participants who will prove their motivation to participate in the workshop will be selected for the workshop. The selected candidates will be notified no later than April 20. The participants will be provided with food, accommodation, handouts as well as reimbursement for travel expenses.

 

The trainers will be Mykola Orlov, expert of the For Transparent Local Budgets partnership, and Illia Rybakov, expert of Civic Control CSO.

The Budgeting Process section will have the trainers and the participants focusing on ways to monitor budget, engage citizens in the budgeting process, achievement of the gender-responsive budgeting, online and offline possibilities to control budget and the role of the media in this process.

In the Public Procurement Monitoring section, the participants will find out about Risk Analysis Tools in public procurement, possibilities provided to an activist or a journalist by the bi.prozorro.org system, how to trace the movement of budget funds using spending.gov.ua and a lot of other useful information on the work with CSV files, dozorro.org and search of connections – Google, Unified State Register, clarity-project.info, youcontrol.com.ua.

NB! Please note that by applying for the seminar you agree to participate in the post-educational activity which consists in a practical implementation of the knowledge gained at the event. The activity will be monitored by TI Ukraine.

Today, decentralization is underway in Ukraine, with local authorities gaining more power and local budgets becoming more independent. Therefore, it is necessary to create and develop mechanisms of monitoring and public control which will prevent corruption on the regional level.
