On September 21, 2021, a panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court passed the verdict concerning Mykhailo Pak, judge of the Mukachevo City District Court, and Oleh Makovskyi, former head of the legal department of the Joint department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia oblast for receiving a bribe.

During the pre-trial investigation, NABU detectives and SAPO prosecutors found that the accused received money for making a decision in favor of a member of the Afghan Union in the case of an administrative claim to the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Mukachevo Regional State Administration.

On September 11, 2017, the judge was caught red-handed, and the next day Mykhailo Pak was served with suspicion.

On March 13, 2018, the case was referred to court, but a few days later, on March 21, the High Council of Justice refused to remove judge Pak from office. As a result, he continued to work for a certain period of time.

The ice broke when the case was transferred to High Anti-Corruption Court. On December 26, 2019, the SAPO prosecutor announced the indictment, and starting from January 3, 2020, the Anti-Corruption Court began to examine the evidence. Already in September 2021, the verdict was passed.

According to the guilty verdict, judge Pak was imprisoned for 7 years, with all property confiscated, and banned from holding the position of judge for 3 years. His accomplice, Oleh Makovskyi, was imprisoned for 6 years with confiscation of half of the property. The verdict can be contested within 30 days from the date of its proclamation.
