Representatives of Kramatorsk city council asked the Transparency International global anti-corruption network to present the Transparency Ranking of 100 Ukrainian Cities in their city. The organization welcomes the aspiration of municipal authorities to build transparent governance and is thus organizing the presentation. Representatives of the local authorities, civic activists, journalists as well as everyone interested in the topic are cordially invited.

The event will take place on March 2, from 1:30PM until 3:30PM at 2 Myru Square.

The team of TI analysts together with the Institute of Political Education created the transparency ranking based on 91 indicators in 13 areas. Namely, these are areas of budgeting and public contracts, land use and construction policy, human resources, public procurement, availability of the online services and others.

Kramatorsk did not demonstrate the best results in the Transparency Ranking. The city ranked 34th, scoring 33.41 out of 100 maximum points and ended up in the group marked red – these cities have to solve the problems with accountability and openness immediately.

Which areas received the highest number of points? How transparent is Kramatorsk compared to other regional centers? Why did three areas receive less than 1 point and what could be the solution to this? You will receive the answers to these questions at the event.

The Ranking will be presented by:

  • Kateryna Tsybenko, Project Coordinator of Transparent Cities
  • Artem Vivdich – Director of Donetsk Local Government Development Centre
  • Denys Oshurko – Secretary of the City Council

Experts will focus primarily on the ways to improve the situation in the areas with the lowest indicators and offer their advisory support.
