On November 1, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Riaboshapka spoke at the conference organized by Transparency International Ukraine “Five Years of Corruption Counteraction: Values and Practices.”
He said that there were no actual reasons for National Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives and SAPO prosecutors to be in conflict, as illustrated by the recent months.
“Since June, the relationship between the NABU and the SAPO has become considerably warmer,” said Prosecutor General. “As you see yourselves, there are now no public or hidden conflicts between the detectives and the prosecutors. Therefore, one of the key problems before was probably the artificially generated conflicts between these two agencies.”
Ruslan Riaboshapka said that the cooperation between the NABU and the SAPO is now probably more productive than ever, and he hopes this will only improve in the future.
As a reminder, Transparency International Ukraine has organized a conference in honor of its five-year anniversary. At this event, speakers and participants are discussing lessons and challenges faced by Ukraine when it comes to fighting corruption.
