Head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency Anton Yanchuk spoke at TI Ukraine’s conference “Five Years of Corruption Counteraction: Values and Practices” on November 1.
“The ARMA’s total deposit protfolio in UAH, EUR and USD now amounts to about UAH 350 million. We have already accrued about UAH 35 million of interest,” he said.
The official said that in 2019 alone, the Agency reviewed over 1100 requests from law enforcement agencies for tracing and seizure of corrupt officials’ wealth. This scope of work is a true challenge for the Agency.
In addition, Anton Yanchuk said that on November 1, the first trial stage of seized property register pilot was completed. This system will provide an opportunity to everyone interested to understand what is happening to seized assets.
As a reminder, Transparency International Ukraine has organized a conference in honor of its five-year anniversary. At this event, speakers and participants are discussing lessons and challenges faced by Ukraine when it comes to fighting corruption.
