Transparency International Ukraine has a positive opinion on Petro Poroshenko’s statement about his intention to submit a draft law on the Anti-Corruption Court to the Verkhovna Rada. At the same time, we hope that the chief of state, while exercising his right to legislative initiative, will take into account all opinions and recommendations of the Venice Commission. For instance, the points on the selection procedure and appointment of anti-corruption judges, their remuneration, self-management system and possible liability.
We support the constructive action aimed at finalizing the formation of anti-corruption infrastructure in Ukraine. We hope for practical steps on development of the Anti-Corruption Court institution as soon as the following year 2018.
TI Ukraine will assess compliance of the President’s draft law with the current challenges separately as soon as we have the possibility to thoroughly analyze the provisions of the document.
