It has been five years since the launch of the decentralization reform in Ukraine. Its goal lies in the empowerment of the local administration. As a result, the income flow of local budgets is increasing, and communities have the opportunities for a full development.

However, one needs to remember, that the more resources the authorities have, the higher the risks of corruption are. Yet the citizens are not always familiar with the tools for the real control over the authorities.

  • Can a community fight corruption locally?
  • When should the tools for influence on the authorities be used?
  • Which innovations help to fight corruption and how do they work?

We are going to talk about all of this and more at the event of the Transparent Cities program, which is organized by Transparency International Ukraine with the support of USAID.

Andrii Borovyk, Executive Director of TI Ukraine

Kateryna Tsybenko, manager of the “Transparent Cities” program
