On November 10, 2021, a panel of judges of the Anti-Corruption Court sentenced Mykhailo Hrabchuk, ex-general director of the state enterprise “Chornobyl Spetskombinat.” He is to be imprisoned for 3.6 years and deprived of the right to hold positions related to administrative and organizational activity for 3 years, and is also to pay a fine of UAH 17,000.

In addition, the HACC satisfied the civil claim and imposed compensation in the amount of UAH 1,030,580. In addition, Hrabchuk should be charged more than UAH 80,000 of expenses for forensic examination.

Let us remind you that on April 9, 2019, NABU detectives charged Hrabchuk with suspicion of abuse of power. Already on June 26 of the same year, an indictment was referred to the court.

According to the investigation, in 2016, the ex-general director signed several agreements on the purchase of diesel fuel and gasoline with the winner of the auction, and then unreasonably agreed on the increase in the price of the contract. Hrabchuk argued that during the period of validity of agreements on the market, fuel prices rose. However, there was no recorded confirmation of price fluctuations, and therefore there were no grounds for concluding additional agreements either.

Thus, “Chornobyl Spetskombinat” received more expensive fuel in smaller volumes than indicated in the contracts, and suffered losses in the amount of UAH 1,030,580.
