This is the case in which Odarchenko is accused of trying to bribe Mustafa Nayyem, former head of the State Agency for Restoration. This agency was subordinated to the Ministry for Restoration, then headed by Oleksandr Kubrakov.
The questioning of Kubrakov was initiated by the defense counsel. In this way, the defense seeks to prove that Nayyem could not have influenced the allocation of funds for the restoration of the university controlled by Odarchenko.
During the interrogation, Kubrakov said that Nayyem really could not have solved this issue on his own, but he had the right to initiate such a review within the interdepartmental commission.
It turned out that Odarchenko had initially appealed directly to Kubrakov with a request to allocate funds for the restoration of the university. However, the ex-minister referred Odarchenko to Nayyem.
Previously, the defense attorneys argued that the classification of Odarchenko’s actions should have been changed from bribery to abuse of influence. Because of this, he could only be imprisoned for up to 2 years instead of 10. That is why the attorneys are trying to prove that Nayyem could not single-handedly solve the issue with the allocation of funds.
