Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) announces new Public Council vacancies!
If you are a trained professional, understand the importance of the citizen oversight and are ready to demonstrate your civil responsibility, we suggest you volunteer. It is also possible for a civil society organization to delegate you in order to fill the vacancy.
The application deadline is November 15, 2019.
Why is this necessary?
Over the last couple of years, the civil society proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that it is capable of efficiently controlling the state apparatus, push for its transparency and accountability, provide recommendations, and change the aspects the institution itself cannot change/ does not want to change/ is not ready to change.
ARMA is an integral part of the anti-corruption mechanism in Ukraine. The Agency is responsible for finding, tracking, and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes as well as the management of seized assets in criminal proceedings. The assets handed over to the Agency by the courts are mostly classified as “sensitive”, become the matter of high public interest and have strategic importance.
What sort of power and authority do the members of the Public Council have?
The members of the Public Council participate in the ARMA debriefings concerning the Agency’s activities, program implementation and objectives set out before ARMA, carry out public control over the spending of allocations from State Budget of Ukraine; delegate two representatives to participate in the activities of the Interagency Commission on asset disposal and Competition Commission charged with filling the vacancies in the ARMA apparatus respectively. The Public Council also has the right to obtain documents and information concerning the activities of the National Agency (except for the classified documents).
The online voting procedure will take place on December 2, 2019, from 9 am till 9 pm.
