WHAT CITIES lead in transparency and openness? Transparency International Ukraine and the Institute for Political Education will present the research findings on transparency of 100 large cities in Ukraine. The rating will be made public on June 27 at 11:00 in the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center (Kyiv, Khreshchatyk, 2).
The team of analysts developed a list of top Ukrainian cities based on 91 indicators related to 13 areas including budgeting, land use, human resources policy, procurement, online services, etc.
Why do some of city-leaders succeed over others in transparency? How can Ukrainians force local authorities to be accountable to the public? In what cities residents has a possibility to participate, where is it better to direct funds to local budgets? All of these issues will be discussed by the following speakers:
Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, executive director of Transparency International Ukraine;
Oleksandr Solontai, chief analyst of the project “Building Transparent Cities in Ukraine”;
Alvina Bondarenko, the manager of affairs of the executive committee of the City Council of Kropyvnitskyi;
Anatolyi Boiko, representative of the civil partnership “Transparency in local budgets”(Odessa).
A special attention will be paid to an issue how to improve the situation in the cities with the worst scores and what kind of support they require. The results of the research study will be published on the site with explanations of each point.
